Study: One In Four Women In The UK Has Become More Addicted To Gambling

Well-known charity organization GambleAware conducted a study among women in England. It found that one in four women aged 18 to 49 began to spend more time on gambling in 2022. Researchers attribute this dangerous trend to the rising cost of living and rising prices.

The study was conducted in August 2022 by analytics company Opinium. It involved just over 1,600 women who had gambled in the past month. According to the results, more than 30% of those surveyed spent more money on gambling than they had originally planned. Twenty-one percent of respondents admitted that they had used gambling to try to solve their financial problems or simply improve their current standard of living.

As part of the study, each woman was scored on the PGSI index, which measures the severity of gambling addiction. Many were given a score of 8, indicating a serious addiction that could threaten their personal lives and financial well-being. Only 21% of those surveyed admitted that gambling causes them anxiety and stress.

Researchers are concerned about a new trend. Because of the crisis and rising prices against the backdrop of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine, many have lost a stable income and turned to gambling. But gambling only exacerbates financial problems and creates a vicious circle that many will not be able to escape. With this study, scientists wanted to draw attention to the impending disaster.

Some experts attribute the increase in the number of gamblers to the availability of casinos. In addition to offline casinos, users have access to thousands of online venues that attract new users with free spins no deposit required. Playing at online casinos is much easier as it can be done from any corner of the globe and at any time. Therefore, more and more people are getting into this dangerous hobby.

In addition, it should not be forgotten that it is much more difficult for women to cope with gambling addiction. Because of the existing stigma in society, it is believed that women can not be addicted to gambling. That is why many people hide their problems from their families and loved ones until the last minute and do not seek help.
