Tinka Tinka Foundation has started the second phase of  prison radios in the state of Haryana. This phase will include four new jails. This is in continuation with the training and execution of prison radios in Haryana. In the first phase, inmates of three jails (District Jail Panipat, District Jail Faridabad and Central Jail Ambala were chosen.) Prison radios have already been launched in January this year in Panipat and Faridabad jails. The first radio was launched by Shri Ranjit Singh, Jail Minister, Shri Rajeev Arora, IAS, ACS, Home, Jail Department, Government of Haryana, Shri K. Selvaraj, IPS, Director General of Prisons, Haryana, Dr. Vartika Nanda, Founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation and Shri Devi Dayal, Superintendent Jail.

These prison radios are conceptualized by India’s leading prison reformer Dr. Vartika Nanda. She has selected and trained inmates in these jails. She is credited to start prison radio in District Jail, Agra in 2019 and was a witness to the launch of first prison radio in India in Tihar in 2013. She heads the department of Journalism in Lady Shri Ram College and has been awarded Stri Shakti Puraskar by the President of India in 2014. Her name has also been included twice in the Limca Book of Records. Currently, she is helping different prisons to launch prison radios.
