Actress Karishma Tanna has come a long way since her debut in 2001 with popular daily ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. She has aced several roles on-screen and is quite a rage on social media too. In a recent interview, Karishma opened up on facing depression after she went out of work for one year.

Karishma got no work for one year after ‘Sanju’

Karishma played the role of Pinky in 2018 Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Sanju’. Although, she only had four scenes in the film, her acting was highly praised. Now years later, Karishma has opened up on not getting any work for one year after the success of ‘Sanju’. She said the disapopointemnt pushed her into depression. After working on Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial, Karishma felt that she would get more work now, but it did not happen.

During an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Karishma said, “Despite having a small role in ‘Sanju’, I felt that this film would help me move forward in life. But after that, I didn’t get what I expected. Post ‘Sanju’, I was out of work for a year. I though that the critics have written so well about my work, even though I had only few scenes in the film. I became hopeful of receiving more offers from the industry, but nothing of sorts happened.”

Karishma went into depression

Furthermore, Karishma told that she went into depression after sitting at home for one year. She said, “I was texting people to ask have they seen ‘Sanju’ or how did they like my work. My mother is very sensitive. She was with me at that time. I didn’t want to tell her because then she would get tensed. My friends would not empathise with me because no one is from my industry. Negative thoughts started coming in my mind. But I motivated myself. Only I know how I came out of that period.”

Karishma Tanna who appeared last in Amazon Prime’s ‘Hush Hush’ will soon be seen in famous filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s series ‘Scoop’. In this, the actress will portray the role of a crime reporter. The trailer of the show is getting appreciation from various spheres. It will stream on Netflix from June 2, 2023.
