The tumultuous personal life of Bhojpuri singer-actor Pawan Singh has once again become the subject of intense public scrutiny, as his wife, Jyoti Singh, has levelled grave allegations against him. In a recent press conference, as cited by India Today, Jyoti Singh claimed that the actor not only administered abortion pills to her but also subjected her to severe torture. Her emotionally charged statements have cast a dark shadow over the actor’s image, prompting a fierce debate about their ongoing marital discord.
During the press conference, Jyoti Singh directly challenged Pawan Singh’s public statements regarding his desire for a child with her, questioning the sincerity of his intentions. “He’s saying he yearned for a child, but a person who yearns for a child doesn’t give his wife medication,” she asserted. She further revealed the shocking extent of these alleged actions: “I was given medication every time, and I hadn’t revealed many things to the media, but today, Pawan Ji forced me to. I’m not defaming Pawan, I’m just presenting my side. I’m sharing things about myself today.” This suggests a pattern of forced abortions, which, if true, represents a serious breach of trust and bodily autonomy.
Jyoti Singh also detailed an incident of alleged torture that pushed her to a desperate state. “When Pawan Ji was administering the medication to me, and when I spoke out against him, he tortured me so much that I took sleeping pills. I took 25 sleeping pills at 2 am,” she recounted, painting a harrowing picture of her mental and emotional distress. She revealed that it was Pawan’s brother, Ranu, and his team member, Deepak, who discovered her and subsequently rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai, where she received medical treatment. Her repeated assertion, “He used to give me abortion pills,” underscored the gravity of her accusations, leaving little room for ambiguity about the nature of the medication.
Pawan Singh Responds: Allegations of Political Motivation and Trouble-Making
In response to these serious accusations, Pawan Singh, a newly reinstated member of the BJP, addressed reporters on Wednesday. As quoted by news agency ANI, he refuted his wife’s claims by questioning her timing and motives, attributing her actions to political machinations rather than genuine distress. “Our case has been going on in the court for the last 3-4 years…Why did you (wife Jyoti Singh) show affection only today?… What kind of affection is this? We can only call it politics that you want to trouble me,” he stated. He explicitly alleged that his wife’s sudden display of “affection” and public accusations were politically motivated attempts to cause him trouble, particularly given his recent re-entry into the BJP.
The current controversy escalated when Jyoti Singh reportedly visited Pawan Singh’s residence, where she broke down and made these serious allegations against him. Following her public statements, Pawan Singh took to social media to issue his own response, defending himself and further questioning Jyoti’s motivations.
Pawan clarified a specific point regarding police presence at his residence, stating that the police were there to maintain law and order, not because he had summoned them. He claimed that a “misconception” was being spread to suggest he had called the authorities. He further accused Jyoti of orchestrating a public dispute to advance her own ambitions, emphasising his belief that family conflicts should remain private.
The couple’s divorce case has been ongoing in court for the past 3-4 years, a fact Pawan Singh repeatedly highlighted to underscore his claim that Jyoti’s recent actions are a calculated tactic rather than an authentic expression of her grievances. By portraying her “affection” as a strategic manoeuvre, he sought to undermine the credibility of her allegations and shift the narrative towards a political conspiracy.
