Kirron Kher is celebrating her 69th birthday today. Kiran is one of those Bollywood actresses who proved her mettle with her acting in the industry. However, Kirron Kher is fighting a battle with cancer these days and her treatment is going on. Kirron Kher’s husband and actor Anupam Kher had informed about her illness in April. Anupam Kher had told that Kirron is suffering from multiple myeloma, which is a type of blood cancer. Today, on her birthday, we tell you about Kirron’s journey from being a Bollywood actress to a politician.

Kirron Kher was born on 14 June 1955 in a Sikh family in Chandigarh, Punjab. Kirron has completed her graduation from Chandigarh itself. Very few people might know that Kirron has been a good badminton player. The actress has played badminton at the national level with Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone.

After completing her studies, Kirron’s inclination towards acting increased and she thought of making a career in this side. Kirron joined the theater in Chandigarh. Anupam Kher was also in this theater group, and they were good friends. But after that Kirron moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. Kirron Kher started her career with the Punjabi film “Asar Pyaar Da” in the year 1973.

Kirron Kher worked with Amrish Puri in Shyam Benegal’s ‘Sardari Begum’ in 1996, which was also very popular. She was awarded the Special Jury Award for this film. After that, she did Rituparna Ghosh’s Bengali film Bairiwali, for which she was awarded the National Award. Kirron left her real mark of acting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Devdas’ in 2002. Kirron Kher has played roles in  Mangal Pandey, Rang De Basanti, Veer-Zaara, Devdas, Karz, Hum, Main Hoon Na, Dostana, Never say goodbye, Will meet you, Fucking love, Kurban, Fanaa, Feeling, Amazing love, Beautiful, Total Siyapa, etc. When Kirron’s film journey was going through a bad phase, then she resorted to the small screen. She worked on many television shows.

This is Kirron Kher’s second marriage with Anupam Kher. The first marriage was to Gautam Berry, who is a businessman. This marriage lasted only a few years and they got divorced. After that Kirron married Anupam Kher. Kirron Kher has a son, Sikandar Kher. Kirron Kher has been associated with social work for many years. She played an important role in the campaign ‘Ladli’ against female feticide.

Along with this, she was also associated with the campaign ‘Stop Cancer’. In the year 2009, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Kirron played an important role for the party in the municipal elections held in Chandigarh in 2011. In 2014, she entered the electoral fray from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat with the BJP’s symbol and won. After that in 2019, she also occupied this seat.
