Actor Kashmera Shah has publicly thrown her support behind Sunita Ahuja amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Sunita’s marriage to Govinda and allegations involving his co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar. Kashmera, who is married to Govinda’s nephew Krushna Abhishek, said she would stand by the women in her family and suggested that Sunita must have a reason for speaking out now.
Speaking to paparazzi at actor Abhishek Kumar’s birthday celebration, Kashmera was asked about the latest developments in the Govinda-Sunita controversy. While she did not comment on every allegation, she made her position clear.
“Woh meri family hai aur main apni family ko protect karungi. Main apni family ki auraton ke saath khadi hoon,” Kashmera said. She added that if people wanted to understand her position, they should understand one thing: “Main Sunita ke saath khadi hoon.”
Kashmera went on to suggest that Sunita’s decision to speak publicly after years of keeping certain matters private was significant.
“Aaj tak unhone kabhi awaaz uthayi hai? Kabhi kaha hai ki ye galat hai, voh galat hai? Aaj bol rahi hai na toh hoga kuch galat,” she said, suggesting that there must be something behind Sunita’s recent decision to speak about her marriage.
The latest statement marks an interesting development in the relationship between Kashmera and Sunita. The two women have had a strained relationship in the past, particularly following the long-running feud between Kashmera and Krushna Abhishek on one side and Govinda and Sunita on the other.
However, Kashmera and Sunita had reportedly reconciled earlier this year, putting their previous differences behind them. Kashmera’s latest comments therefore come from a significantly different place from the public confrontations that characterised their relationship in the past.
The controversy surrounding Govinda and Sunita intensified after Sunita accused her husband of being involved with actor Komal Rani Swarnkar. Sunita has questioned Govinda’s relationship with Komal and made several public remarks about the two being together.
The allegations have not been independently established, and Govinda has rejected claims and taken steps against what he considers defamatory or false reports. He recently issued a public notice warning against the circulation of unverified material concerning his personal life and reportedly threatened legal action over defamatory content.
Sunita had earlier filed for divorce from Govinda but subsequently withdrew the petition. Govinda’s manager confirmed that the divorce case had been withdrawn.
However, Sunita later made another dramatic revelation during a phone conversation with actor Rakhi Sawant. She claimed that Govinda and Komal had been planning to marry and said this was one of the reasons she withdrew her divorce petition. The claim remains unverified, and there has been no independent confirmation that Govinda and Komal planned to marry.
Rakhi subsequently publicly sided with Sunita as well, telling her to focus on her financial interests amid the marital dispute.
Kashmera’s intervention now adds another layer to the increasingly public family drama. Unlike some of the other celebrity reactions, however, she did not attempt to comment on the truth of the allegations against Govinda. Instead, she framed her position around supporting Sunita as a member of her family.
The actor had also recently shared a cryptic social media post about relationships and infidelity, asking whether what people sometimes call “true love” can survive when one person cheats. The post appeared amid the growing controversy surrounding Govinda and Sunita, although Kashmera did not explicitly name anyone in it.
