Actor Kunickaa Sadanand has shared an old Raksha Bandhan advertisement featuring Kangana Ranaut amid the ongoing controversy over Kriti Sanon’s outfit in a jewellery brand’s festive campaign.
Kunickaa shared a poster from Kangana’s old advertisement for jewellery brand Nakshatra on social media. In the advertisement, Kangana is seen wearing a strapless outfit with a plunging neckline while promoting Raksha Bandhan jewellery. The advertisement has resurfaced after Kangana criticised Kriti’s outfit in her recent Raksha Bandhan campaign.
Reacting to the old advertisement, Kunickaa wrote, “Mera kutta kutta, tera kutta Tommy?” referencing the popular dialogue from the song Tera Kutta Tommy from The Kapil Sharma Show. Her post was shared in the context of Kangana’s remarks on Kriti’s Raksha Bandhan advertisement.
Kangana had criticised Kriti’s GIVA advertisement after it drew backlash over the actor’s outfit. Kriti was seen wearing a bralette-style blouse, cape and draped skirt while celebrating Raksha Bandhan in the campaign. The advertisement also showed her tying a rakhi to a dog.
Kangana questioned why someone would tie rakhi to their brother while wearing what she described as undergarments and said there were many other clothing options available. She later clarified that she believed women could wear whatever they wanted but questioned Kriti’s choice of outfit specifically for a Raksha Bandhan advertisement.
Kriti subsequently responded to the criticism, saying that culture and traditions are not determined by a woman’s neckline. She questioned why women continue to be told what they should wear and said the essence of festivals lies in their emotions and traditions rather than clothing.
The GIVA advertisement was subsequently withdrawn. The jewellery brand said it had deep respect for Indian culture, traditions and festivals and removed the campaign after being made aware that it had hurt the sentiments of some sections of society.
