‘Salma Khan Must Have Gone Through A Lot’, Helen Opens Up On Marrying Salim Khan!

Bollywood megastar Salman Khan’s family sets out some ‘ideal family’ goals through their get-togethers. But like all other families, this one too had its own share of highs and lows. It was a tough time for all of them when veteran screenwriter Salim Khan decided to marry actress Helen and was already married to his first wife Salma Khan (Sushila Charak). Now, in a recent interview with step-son Arbaaz Khan on The Invincibles, Helen has recalled that phase and has said that Salma must have gone through a lot while separating from Salim. She also stated how she never wanted a separation from the family.

Helen quoted, “Salim gave me a role in a film. We became friends, mummy was very nice. It must have been tough for your mom, she must have gone through a lot at that time. I think destiny brought me close to all of you and I must thank all of you.”

Furthermore, Helen talked about the dance numbers in films. She said that she was very lucky to be able to continue dancing till the age of 42. She mentioned how people told her that ‘film industry main kaam nahi karna chahiye, yeh achi baat nahi hai (You should not work in the film industry, it is not good).’

For the unknown, Salim Khan married Salma Khan in 1954 after dating for a while. In the era of 50s and 60s, Salim Khan helped Helen in her career. The two soon developed feelings for each other. The duo tied the knot in 1980.  Salim and Salma had tied the knot in 1954. The pair are parents to three sons- Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and two daughters- Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan.
