Neena finished her performance at Prithvi Theater in Juhu, Mumbai, and then went to meet the producer at the hotel. As the hotel was close to the theatre, so she decided to meet the producer in the hotel itself. But when the producer called her to his room, she felt that something was wrong.

Neena writes in Autobiography, “My mind told me not to go upstairs. Also, I felt that I should ask him to come downstairs to the lobby.”

Neena went up in fear of missing out on the opportunity to work in the film. The producer talked to Neena about many actresses whom he had launched, but when he told her about her role, Neena did not show any interest. She wrote, “So sir, what will be my role?” When I finally asked him this question, he said, “the actress’s friend”. When he explained it to me, it was a very small character. I told him that ok, now I have to go, sir. My friends are waiting for me.
