After Gauahar Khan, Prachi Desai Opens Up On Losing Roles For Being Too Good-Looking; Read On!

Actress Prachi Desai is one of those few actresses who made a big name in the film industry after graduating from TV. Though she appeared only in a few films, the strong characters she portrayed are still remembered for the way she played them. In a recent conversation, Prachi opened up about how she has struggled her way through to get good roles.

Desai always had a girl next door image. She has now told that it was difficult to brak away from it and many a time it became a roadblock for her. During her interview, she explained, “To some extent, it was a kind of a barrier that I was facing. In the past, if there was any role of this kind or nature, they always thought I have a very soft face for it. I’m pretty so what you do with that. Nobody really knew how they could turn this around to their advantage. At the end of the day, cross-casting is really commendable. Those are the things that make you sit up and notice. It’s very easy to keep casting people in the same roles over and over again since you’re very comfortable watching them do that.”

Further talking about it, Prachi said that she didn’t know what to say when she was told ‘being too pretty for a role.’Quoting a recent incident, the Rock On! actress said, “I heard this just a while ago before Forensic came out. There was an interesting role and somebody from the platform said, ‘Don’t you think she is too pretty for it?’ I said thank you to the director for at least telling me that. I am just happy here that they are not doubting my skill, they don’t think I lack anything there. But they think I am too pretty. I really don’t know what’s the right reaction for that but I’m definitely not going to take that negatively.”

For the unknown, Prachi Desai entered the acting world with Balaji’s show Kasamh Se. In a short span of time, she got her first film Rock On! (2008) alongside Farhan Akhtar. Soon, Prachi got some interesting Bollywood projects like Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Bol Bachchan, etc.

After vanishing away from the scene for a while, Desai has recently returned with a thriller series Forensic alongside Vikrant Massey-Radhika Apte. She will soon be seen in Dhootha with Naga Chaitanya.
