Himanshi Khurana has responded to the escalating public dispute with her former boyfriend Asim Riaz, clarifying that she never herself described their relationship as involving “forceful conversion”. The actor said the phrase was created by people and the media, while maintaining that religion was a significant issue in their relationship. She also claimed that she has CCTV footage and recordings relating to incidents she says she experienced during the relationship.
The latest exchange follows Himanshi’s appearance on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, where she opened up about her breakup with Asim and spoke about the religious differences between them. The couple met on Bigg Boss 13 in 2019 and were together for around four years before announcing their separation in 2023.
During the podcast, Himanshi said Asim and his family had spoken to her about Islam and wanted her to understand and accept aspects of the religion. She said she was not comfortable with changing her religious beliefs and described the experience as feeling as though she was “betraying” her God.
Himanshi had also said that there was nothing wrong with Asim personally and that he had not misbehaved with her in that particular context. She framed the decision as her own, saying she did not want to compromise her religious beliefs.
Her comments, however, triggered a strong response from Asim.
Asim took to social media to reject the suggestion that he had ever asked Himanshi to change her religion.
“I never asked anyone to change their religion. Not once,” he said, calling religion a sensitive subject and accusing his former partner of using it to generate hatred against him.
He also questioned why Himanshi was discussing their relationship years after their breakup and suggested that she was seeking attention.
Asim further claimed that he possessed screenshots of messages exchanged after their separation. In one post, he questioned why Himanshi had contacted him again several months after the breakup if the relationship had been as damaging as she now described it.
Himanshi has now pushed back against the controversy over what exactly she claimed.
“I never said ‘forceful conversion’ was there. People and media set that narrative,” she wrote in a post on X.
However, she said she was no longer willing to remain silent after what she described as insults and mockery surrounding her health and personal struggles.
She then raised the possibility of making evidence public, saying she has CCTV footage and recordings. Himanshi specifically referred to the early morning of November 27, 2023, and alleged that the material relates to violence she says she suffered.
“If we are going to talk about proofs, then let’s talk about everything,” she said.
Himanshi also accused her former partner of repeatedly insulting her and said she had previously maintained silence to protect his public image.
Himanshi said she had tried to maintain dignity while discussing their relationship and had avoided revealing details that could damage Asim’s image.
She said she would no longer “cover up” to protect his image or remain silent while she was allegedly being disrespected. She also claimed that people in production houses and television channels had previously been aware of what she described as problems in the relationship.
The allegations regarding violence, however, remain claims made by Himanshi and have not been independently verified. Likewise, Asim’s denial of asking her to convert represents his position in the dispute.
Himanshi and Asim’s relationship began in the highly publicised environment of Bigg Boss 13. Their romance quickly became one of the most discussed relationships to emerge from the reality show.
When they announced their breakup in 2023, both had cited differences in religious beliefs. Asim had previously described the split as mutual and connected to their differing religious beliefs.
Years later, their relationship has once again become a public subject, this time with competing claims about religion, health, alleged mistreatment and what happened during and after their relationship.
Asim has also accused Himanshi of pursuing renewed relevance by discussing their past, while Himanshi maintains that she has remained silent for long enough and is now prepared to present what she says is evidence.
