Tanishaa Mukherjee will star in the upcoming dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. In a promotional video of the show, Tanishaa is seen dancing to the song “Laila Main Laila” from the film “Raes.” Captivated by her performance, the judges, Farah Khan, Malaika Arora and Arshad Warsi, commented, “You are a star tonight.” Tanishaa got emotional and stated amid tears, “Meri family mey Ajay Devgn, Kajol, sab stars hai. Mai woh mukam tak nahi pohchi. I am not a star.” (In my family, Ajay Devgn and Kajol are all stars. I haven’t reached that level. I am not a star).
A startling yet heartfelt confession from the actress, it is not the first time Tanishaa has addressed her failure to be as successful as her family members.
A Bright Start
Tanishaa Mukherjee debuted in 2003 with the Bollywood movie “Sssshhh.” She instantly grabbed attention as the daughter of veteran actor Tanuja and director Shomu Mukherjee. Her elder sister, Kajol, has continued to dominate the industry for years.
Even though Tanishaa went on to deliver popular movies like Neal ‘n’ Nikki and Tango Charlie, she failed to reach the same heights as Kajol and her brother-in-law, Ajay Devgn.
In a previous interview, Tanishaa reflected on her Bollywood journey and ruminated on why she did not make it as big as her mother and sister. Tanishaa speculated that it could be due to her strong sense of self. She also reasoned that if one has a strong sense of themselves, it will come out on the screen. “Those are the people who will actually make it, those who have a strong sense of self. Maybe I didn’t make it because I didn’t have that,” Mukherjee said.
Looking Ahead
Jhalak Dikkla Jaa 11 is set to return on November 11th, 2023, on Sony TV. The popular dancing show features popular celebrities and a choreographer. In each episode, the celebrities prepare a new form of dance and perform it in front of a panel of judges.
This year, Farah Khan, Malaika Arora and Arshad Warsi will be the judges. The show will be hosted by Gauhar Khan and Rithvik Dhanjani. Celebrities who will join this year’s show are Urvashi Dholakia, Anjali Anand, Aamir Ali, Rajiv Thakur, Shoaib Ibrahim and more.
