Telly Couple: Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Fell In Love Despite Their 10-Year Age Gap

They quickly won over the audience when they debuted on the inaugural season of Nach Baliye as Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar. Before social media had taken over our lives, the only way the audience could show their support for a particular performer was by voting for them on the program, which is exactly what they did. The veterans took home the prize, and many years later, their followers continue to cherish them.

Sachin, who began his career as a young actor and finally rose to the position of leading man, appeared in hit movies like Piya Ka Ghar, Balika Badhu, and Sholay. He had received a National Film Award when he was four years old, and as an adult, his performances in movies like Avatar, Satte Pe Satta, and Geet Gaata Chal among others continued to garner recognition. A few years later, Sachin decided to pursue his dream of becoming a director. He met his future wife Supriya while working on the shoot of his second film, the Marathi feature Navri Mile Navryala. In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Sachin recalled how he first fell in love with Supriya while seeing her performing on stage.

Together, they worked on the movie, but he never had the guts to tell her he loved her. Supriya was stunned when he finally told her how he was feeling. She mistakenly believed he was already married, but that was untrue. Although she was 17 and he was 27, their love was ageless. In 1985, the couple exchanged vows.

Supriya’s first acting role was in Navri Mile Navryala, therefore in many ways Sachin’s directing encouraged her to follow her love. She thanks him for it. He introduced me to acting. I wouldn’t be performing if it weren’t for him. I am purely an actress for the filmmaker. He was a great source of support and advice for me. The finest in an actor is always brought out by a true director. In an interview with Hindustan Times in 2016, she said, “I will always be grateful to him for it. Sachin was frank in a 2019 conversation with HT about what makes them a “power pair.” We don’t always agree with each other, he said. We don’t hide from our discrepancies. When she wants to, she criticises me. Despite all of this, folks are aware that we are together for mementoes. Never is it a facade or a performance. We are what we are on screen and in real life. We are a powerful couple because of our mutual trust, honesty, and faith in one another. I am incomplete without her,” he said.

Their daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar appeared on shows like Mirzapur, Guilty Minds, and The Broken News.
