Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan is an avid social media user. She keeps sharing photos from her sets, vacations or spiritual trips which she often plans. Viewers have witnessed the actress visiting a temple as well as Dargah multiple times in the past. Recently, Sara posted a string of pictures from the time when she visited different Shiva temples on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

In one of the images, the ‘Kedarnath’ actress is posing in front of Lord Shiva’s idol with chandan on her forehead. In another photo, she is sitting in front of a Shiva temple with folded hands. Alongside the images, Sara wished all her followers on the auspicious occasion and wrote, “Jai Bholenath.” Now, this has sparked a debate among the netizens.

A certain section of the audience trolled the actress mercilessly for sharing a post on Hindu festival while carrying a Muslim name. On the other hand, fans of Sara came to her defence and lauded her for being secular.

Some of the hateful comments on Sara’s snaps called her an ‘improper Muslim’ and ‘unworthy of having a Muslim name’, while others just showed their disappointment. A user penned, “Ye ummid to nhi thi saara jii name change krlo ap Muslim se kafir ho gyi aap.” Another stated, “Well done Sara- may your path always be enlightened with the truth – not by those that want to control you with fear.”

Fans who came out in support of Sara wrote, “Other so called hindu actresses never posted photos of mahashivratri …hats off to u Sara .. respect.” Another stated, “I’m also a Muslim but Kya farq parta hai uski pics rakhje se aapka faith nahi khrb horaha hai to bas. If she puts pics from Dargah, Hindus should also not get affected… that’s all.”
