Bollywood star Manoj Bajpayee recently addressed, in an interview with Zoom, the trend of actors being written off on social media. He criticised people who rushed to form opinions without watching films or understanding an artist’s complete body of work, emphasising the importance of informed judgment before making public comments online. Social media has become a powerful space for conversations about films, actors, and the entertainment industry, creating new opportunities for engagement. It enables constructive discussions, meaningful debates, appreciation, and criticism.

Platforms like Instagram, X, YouTube, and Snapchat have made actors appear more approachable and connected to audiences. While this accessibility has strengthened the bond between celebrities and fans, it has also given critics a platform to judge films before release. Unverified viral clips and misleading content can quickly spread online, shaping negative public opinions and affecting actors’ reputations, careers, and the overall perception of their work and achievements.
Manoj Bajpayee Reacts to Social Media Writing Off Actors
Amid intense backlash, Manoj Bajpayee, one of Hindi cinema’s most respected voices, responded to the trend of judging actors without even watching their films. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, the Governor star described social media as “a fool’s paradise.” He advised young actors to stay resilient, ignore negativity, and focus on their craft rather than getting distracted by online noise.

In an interview with Zoom, Manoj Bajpayee remarked: “People are empowered with mobiles and social media. They are in a hurry to post their opinion about any film without watching or without having full knowledge about the content or about an actor or their work. As an educated person, you should not entertain those noises after a point. You have to distract yourself. That noise is there on social media for everyone. Every step, the noise keeps increasing. How can you help yourself and focus on what you do? Just tell yourself that you are doing something very right with yourself, your career, your life, your family and with yourself. You can’t deal with the noises.”

The actor elaborated, saying, “It is impossible. What to do to stay calm and take care of your mental health? Don’t listen to those misdirected noises. It is the phone that is there in their hands, which is making it easy to shift their toxicity to somebody else. Are you ready to take it? If you are not, nobody should be ready to take it; just distract yourself. Don’t believe social media. It is a fool’s paradise. There is a real world, and you have to deal with so many things.”
