Dilip Joshi Dismisses ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ Exit Rumours, Says ‘People Publish Fabricated Stories’

Actor Dilip Joshi has firmly denied rumours claiming that he is set to leave the long-running television sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor, who has portrayed the beloved character Jethalal since the show’s launch in 2008, dismissed the reports as baseless and urged media platforms to verify facts before publishing such stories.

Speculation about Joshi’s exit began circulating on social media earlier this week, with several reports claiming that the actor had decided to quit the popular sitcom. The rumours quickly gained traction online, leaving fans concerned about the future of one of the show’s most iconic characters. However, Joshi has now put an end to the speculation by issuing a clarification.

Speaking about the rumours, the actor said he was surprised to see fabricated stories being widely shared without any verification. “People publish fabricated stories. I request everyone to verify the facts before putting out such reports,” he said, adding that there was no truth to the claims about his leaving the show.

Joshi also emphasised that there was no reason for fans to worry, making it clear that he continues to be associated with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. His statement has come as a relief to viewers, many of whom expressed concern after the rumours began circulating across entertainment portals and social media pages.

The clarification follows reports that producer Asit Kumarr Modi had also dismissed the speculation surrounding Joshi’s departure. According to reports, the show’s makers reiterated that the actor remains an integral part of the sitcom and that the rumours were completely unfounded.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has remained one of Indian television’s longest-running and most successful comedy shows. Over the years, however, it has witnessed the exit of several original cast members, including Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta, Bhavya Gandhi and others. More recently, actor Kush Shah, who played Goli, also left the series. These departures have often fuelled speculation whenever reports emerge about other cast members.

Despite these changes, Dilip Joshi has continued to remain the face of the sitcom through his portrayal of Jethalal Gada. His comic timing, chemistry with fellow cast members and central role in the show’s storylines have made him one of the most recognisable television actors in the country.

This is not the first time Joshi has had to respond to false reports. In the past, he dismissed rumours of an alleged altercation with producer Asit Kumarr Modi, calling those claims “completely false”. He had then questioned why such stories were repeatedly circulated despite having no factual basis.

The latest rumours once again sparked discussions among fans about the future of the sitcom, especially given the number of cast changes over the years. Several viewers took to social media to express relief after Joshi’s clarification, saying the show would be difficult to imagine without Jethalal.

The actor’s statement also highlights the growing concern over misinformation in the entertainment industry, where unverified reports often spread rapidly across digital platforms. By urging media outlets to verify facts before publishing stories, Joshi stressed the importance of responsible reporting and accurate journalism.

With his clarification, Dilip Joshi has effectively put an end to the speculation surrounding his future on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. For now, fans can expect to continue seeing Jethalal’s antics in Gokuldham Society, with the veteran actor confirming that reports of his exit are nothing more than fabricated rumours.
