Veteran actress Kajal Aggarwal is all set to play the lead role in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film ‘Uma’ with Miraj Entertainment. The names of Bhumi Pednekar to Tamannaah Bhatia have been in the news for this role, but it is learned that Sujoy has put a stamp on Kajal Aggarwal’s name. Kajal has also confirmed signing this film. Last year, during the Corona period itself, Miraj Entertainment announced to make two films with Sujoy Ghosh. The company then said in a statement that out of the two films that Miraj Entertainment is going to make with Sujoy, one film will be directed by Sujoy himself. This film will be made on the story of famous litterateur Rabindra Nath Tagore’s ‘Kabuliwala’ and its entire shooting is going to be done in London.

Sujoy’s assistant Tathagata Singha is going to direct the second film of the agreement between Miraj and Sujoy. The film is said to be a remake of a popular Bengali film. The pre-production work of the film is almost completed and the casting work has started recently after the selection of technicians for the film is completed.
Dharma Cornerstone Agency sources had informed a few weeks back that he had started talks with actor Tamannaah Bhatia for a film to be produced by Sujoy Ghosh. But, Tamannaah Bhatia’s web series ‘November Story’ not liked much in the Hindi belt has gone against her. Bhumi Pednekar’s name was also in discussion for the lead role for this film at one time.

The last three films of Bhumi Pednekar have been continuously rejected by the audience. Last year, her film ‘Bhoot – Part One The Haunted Ship’ flopped in theatres. Then after this two of her films ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’ and ‘Durgamati’ were released directly on OTT. Both these films were also not liked by the audience. If sources close to her are to be believed, Bhumi has made up her mind not to do female lead films for a few months now.

Tathagat recently narrated the story of his film to actress Kajal Aggarwal after the names of these two actresses did not fit according to the box office. Kajal’s character has recently received a lot of praise in the film ‘Mumbai Saga’. Kajal also liked the story of the film and she said yes to this film. The shooting of the film is expected to start soon after the monsoons. The entire film will be completed in the start to finish schedule.
