When Kareena Kapoor Khan Body Shamed Vidya Balan By Saying, “It’s Not Sexy To Be Fat”

For her unedited remarks on public venues, Kareena Kapoor Khan has frequently courted controversy. She is renowned for speaking her mind, but occasionally she goes too far without considering how it will affect her life and the lives of others. While Bebo once subtly body-shamed Vidya Balan for her weight gain, Kareena has never been afraid to overtly criticize her peers.

When Vidya put on weight for the character in The Dirty Picture in 2012, Kareena made fun of her for it. Kareena had instead defined what it meant to be hot and overweight in her reply rather than praising her performance in the movie. “Being big is not attractive! Anyone who asserts that is spewing nonsense. Fat is not in, but voluptuous is. Anyone who claims that a woman doesn’t want to be skinny is irrational. Every girl wants it. Though it could be popular among some actresses right now, I don’t want to appear chubby or overweight!”

Vidya Balan wasn’t someone who would take things lying down, whereas Kareena must have believed it was acceptable to fat-shame her fellow actor. Kareena’s comment received a harsh response from Vidya, who struck her down by saying, “The Dirty Picture is as dirty as it gets. They might be able to produce a Heroine, but nobody will be able to deliver The Dirty Picture.” For those who are unaware, Kareena starred in the 2012 movie Heroine directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
