Bappi Lahiri died on February 15. The universe of music lost an unbelievable jewel. We at ETimes had talked with him last year, a meeting which we distributed interestingly on February 16 evening. Recently, son Bappa Lahiri speaks up about his father, which is FIRST and EXCLUSIVE after Bappida’s downfall.

Portions:

I don’t have any idea where to begin and what to say yet I had talked with your amazing dad last year. It was an honor conversing with him…

Indeed, I am familiar with that meeting. I was here in India nearly all through 2021. Father was unwell however he was recuperating, he had even begun working-going on TV shows, doing jingles, we likewise did a Ganpati melody. I returned to Los Angeles on December 3. We had spent each relative’s birthday in 2021 and done each puja together, including Ganpati and Durga puja. I was sitting tight for him to come to Los Angeles.

We also reproduce Bappida’s interview that we had carried out on February 16.

Had he said that he’ll come?
Yes.

How did it all suddenly start going downhill?
I truly don’t have the foggiest idea. He was in the clinic for an enormous piece of the month before. In any case, each time I called him, he said he was improving. On Monday (February 14) he said he needs to return home; he continued to say ‘ghar chalo ghar chalo’.

And after that?
The following day, he was not eating. Things weren’t looking great since that evening (February 15). Mother told him ‘theek hai baad mein thoda kha lena’. We had two medical attendants. He began feeling exceptionally tired. We called the specialist.

Was it a breathing issue because of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) once more?
No, it was anything but a breathing issue. I think his heart recently halted. My sister, brother by marriage, and mother hurried him to the emergency clinic. The specialist had been called and he said that he should be taken to the emergency clinic. They arrived at the emergency clinic yet he was unable to be resuscitated. I was on the telephone constantly.

And the interview continued with many other questions. His son also added that his dad was affected by Lata ji’s demise. He used to call her ‘Maa’. She had helped him a lot. He was not able to digest that he is still not here.
